The cement works was abandoned in 1991 and has remained derelict ever since. There have been many commercial planning applications that have either been scrapped or turned down following public inquiry.

To date, the open area of the site is being used by a local company that operates quarries, wharves and the supply of ready-mixed concrete throughout Sussex. The buildings are still derelict and not being used. Estimated cost to clear the site and install basic services stands at around £1.5m.
